HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF:
The Spartans came out hot, with Mimi Cronquist smashing home a goal within the first minute of play. CSU-Pueblo quickly retaliated, however, scoring just 2 minutes later as Tampa conceded their first goal of the season, putting the match at 1-1 early on. After the exciting opening minutes, Tampa then began to settle into the game, but CSU-Pueblo continued to challenge the Spartans defense with a handful of shots throughout the half. The early goals would prove to be the sole points in the first half as the teams traded off possession but ultimately struggled to string together a fruitful series of plays. After a back-and-forth half, the teams went into the break tied.

SECOND HALF:
Coming out strong in the second half, the Spartans pressed the ThunderWolves defense and created several opportunities offensively. About 13 minutes into the second half, Lindsey Emerson would find a gap in the CSU-Pueblo defense to slot in a pass to Ally Wold atop the box, Wold held composure to tap the ball past Elaina Leitner, Tampa back on top. Physicality was in full force for both teams in the second half, with several fouls getting called against and for the Spartans. Getting desperate to generate some offense, the ThunderWolves would substitute half their players to put in fresh legs with just 11 minutes remaining. The Spartans, however, held their own for the final minutes, ending the game with a 2-1 win.
