Jessie Bardin Wins National Title in 200 Freestyle
BUFFALO, N.Y. - University of Tampa freshman swimmer Jessie Bardin captured an NCAA II national championship in the 200 Free at the 2007 NCAA II Swimming and Diving Championships in Buffalo.
The St. Petersburg resident and graduate of Northeast High School recorded a championship time of 1:50.92 to defeat Jing Hua (Drury) and Alison Smith (Indianapolis).
"I feel that this is a case where the winner of this race was the most deserving," says Tampa coach Ed Brennan. "Jessie is a great kid and a super hard worker and we are extremely proud of her effort."
Other Spartans who turned in top performances today were Meghann Mulbarger in the women's 1,000 Free with an 11th place finish and a personal best time of 10:29.74. Freshman Tyler Furrer also registered a ninth place finish in the men's 1,000 Free after posting a time of 9:32.80.
