UT Swimming Rewarded With Pair of SSC Awards
ORLANDO, Fla. - After defeating Wright State University, the University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams received more good news as the Sunshine State Conference recognized a pair of top performers.
Tampa's Norbert Kovacs earned the SSC Male Swimmer of the Week Award as Lindsay Calimer was the Female Swimmer of the Week, as announced by SSC commissioner Jay Jones on Monday.
Kovacs (Budapest, Hungary) notched three first-place finishes to lead the Spartans to a 151.5-110.5 win over Wright State. Kovacs posted the top time in the 1,000-yard freestyle, completing the race with a mark of 9:56.41. He also logged the best time in the 100-yard butterfly, tallying a mark of 51.07. Kovacs won the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 54.90.
Calimer (Severna Park, Md.) earned two individual wins to help the Spartans defeat Wright State 150-112. Calimer took the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.15. She also clocked the fastest time in the 50-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 26.87.
