
Heather Glenday Leads Spartans to Impressive Start at Swimming Championships
DALLAS - The University of Tampa women's swimming team is seventh while its men are 14th following day one of the 2012 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships.
Heather Glenday finished the 1,000 Free as the national runner-up while registering a school record time of 10:00.72. The victory earned UT's women 17 points and All-American status for the Spartan sophomore.
Norbert Kovacs placed 15th in the men's 1,000 Free with a time of 9:25.02.
Alex Hipolito also enjoyed day one success for Tampa as she was 10th in the 200 IM Finals with a time of 2:04.70. Erin Plachy was also 13th in the 50 Free at 23.43.
The women's 200 Medley Relay team took the consolation for a ninth place finish with a showing of 1:44.69. The team was made up of Hilary Stetekluh, Hipolito, Lindsay Calimer and Plachy.
The men's 200 Medley Relay team concluded the first day with a 14th-place finish from Berk Kahraman, David Humphrey, Kovacs and Felipe Manzo.
