Spartans Post Pair of Top Relay Performances on Day Two of NCAA Championships
GENEVA, Ohio - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams completed their second day at the 2014 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships. The four-day event is being hosted by the Spire Institute.
At the halfway point, UT's men are currently seventh with 103 points. Tampa's women are 24th after accumulating 14 points. Drury is the overall leader in both the men (276.5) and women (246).
Tampa's men earned bronze in the first event of the night, the 200 Free Relay. The group of Khalid Aldaboos, Jeremy Parker, Runar Borgen and Jordan Augier registered a time of 1:19.85 to earn All-American honors.
A pair of Spartans earned colsolation status in the 400 IM, with Alex Hipolito finishing 10th with a time of 4:20.75 in the women's race. Zane Hranac represented UT in the men's event, placing 14th with after being clocked at 3:58.61.
Runar Borgen was ninth in the 100 Fly (48.43), while a pair of Spartans placed in the women's 200 Free. Erin Plachy was 13th (1:51.58) as Heather Glenday was 14th (1:52.44).
The Spartan men finished the evening with an All-American performance in the 400 Medley Relay. UT was fifth with a time of 3:14.35 from Karl Burdis, Philip Nordenberg, Borgen and Parker.
