
Tampa Set to Host Spartan Invitational
The Spartan swim programs are set to welcome nine teams to the first annual Spartan Invite, beginning December 18.
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swim programs are set to host the Spartan Invitational in the Long Center located in Clearwater, Fla.
The three-day event is set to begin Friday, Dec. 18 with preliminary events starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Doyle Aquatic Center and will conclude Sunday, Dec. 20.
Four men's programs and five women's teams are set to compete in the first annual event. Sunshine State Conference programs Florida Southern, Rollins and the Lynn women's team will race while the men's and women's teams from Lenoir-Rhyne will complete the field of competition at the event.
The Doyle Aquatic Center has an Olympic-sized 10-lane, 50 meter swimming and diving facility. The meet will be swum in a single eight-lane, 25 yard course for both the preliminary and finals sessions.
There is permanent bleacher seating available along with an additional standing room only section directly behind the bleachers for viewing the competition.
Preliminary races will begin at 9:30 a.m. on each of the three days while final races will start at 6:00 p.m. each day.
