
Spartans Open Riseman Aquatics Center With Wins Over Rival Mocs
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams competed for the first time at the newly constructed Benson Alex Riseman Aquatics Center, easily defeating Florida Southern College in a matchup of Sunshine State Conference opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- There was a total of 28 events in the meet.
- UT's men took first in seven races.
- The Spartan women won 11 events.
TOP PERFORMERS (MEN):
- Hayden Curley championed the 1,000 Free, winning with a time of 9:28.37 as his first-place finish was by eight seconds. Curley then registered his second first-place finish of the meet in the 200 Back at 1:53.16.
- Kenan Dean took the 200 Fly after being timed at 1:53.68.
- The 50 Free was won by Tibor Tistan and his time of 20.86. He was the first of four Spartans to finish the race in the 1-4 spots.
- Santiago Aguilera and his time of 46.02 was the fastest in the 100 Free.
- The 100 Fly was won by Winn Aung as his time was 51.04.
- UT took the top two spots in the 200 Free Relay, with the team of Tistan, Jimmy Senese, Caleb Brandon and Aguilera winning with a time of 1:24.90.
TOP PERFORMERS (WOMEN):
- In the first event of the meet, UT took first in the 400 Medley Relay. The team of Mady Barnes, Julia Augustsson, Katie Horan and Emily Van De Wiele was the first to finish, with a time e of 3:53.96. The Spartans also took second and third in the race.
- Emma Chestang won the 200 Free after being clocked at 1:56.77.
- Kim McCaffrey was the first to finish in a 1-2-3 100 Back for the Spartans. The winning time was 58.07. McCaffrey would later take first in the 200 Back with a time of 1:52.23.
- The 100 Breast included the top three finishers for UT as Augustsson won in 1:05.58. Augustsson also won the 200 Breast in 2:24.17.
- Tampa took the top four spots of the 50 Free, led by Tilde Morin's winning time of 24.16.
- Van De Wiele followed up her relay victory with a 100 Free first-place finish of 53.03.
- Madi Lauger was the champion of the 100 Fly, taking the race in 57.42.
- Freshman Brooke Punnewaert was first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.92.
- Tampa took the first four spots in its final race of the meet, the 200 Free Relay. A winning time of 1:16.26 was recorded by Kristen Wagner, Jess Jones, Ava Borowski and Abbey Gardner.

The Spartans face a short turnaround and host Rollins College on Saturday at noon.
