
Lindsey Louder Named SSC Freshman of the Year
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference has announced the 2024 women's swimming individual awards. The University of Tampa's Lindsey Louder takes Freshman of the Year accolades. Emily Trieschmann and Ben Hewitt from Nova Southeastern University earn Swimmer of the Year and Coach of the Year honors, respectively.
League coaches vote on the SSC Swimmer, Freshman, and Coach of the Year awards following the NCAA Division II National Championship. All-SSC swimmers were selected earlier this season following the conference championship meet, which was held February 14-18 at Florida Aquatics Swimming Training in Ocala.

Louder becomes the third Spartan to earn SSC Women's Swimming Freshman of the Year honors and the first since 2011-123. The product of Centennial, Colorado, claimed an All-America nod by finishing third at the NCAA National Championship in the 200 Back. She was also Top-25 in the 100 Back and 200 Free.
Trieschmann repeats as Swimmer of the Year accolades after being named CSCAA National Swimmer of the Year. Trieschmann won four individual and one relay national championships for NSU in the 2024 championship. The junior remains the sixth Shark to be named Swimmer of the Year1. Her NCAA championship performance lifted NSU to a second consecutive national team title. Trieschmann becomes the first NSU swimmer and third overall to win SSC Swimmer of the Year twice2.
Individually, the Wellington, Florida native repeats as the national champion in the 500 Free and 1000 Free. She also took phone the top prize in the 200 Free and 1650 Free, becoming the first SSC athlete to win four individual titles at one championship. Trieschmann set the NCAA overall and meet records in the 800 Free and 1000 Free. Additionally, she owns the SSC overall records in the 200, 500, 1000, and 1650 Free. As a relay swimmer, she led NSU to national championship gold in the 800 Free Relay. Trieschmann and teammates now own the NCAA, championship meet, SSC, and conference meet records in the 800 Free Relay.

Hewitt four-peats as SSC Women's Swimming Coach of the Year, earning the award for a league-leading sixth time4. He piloted NSU to a second consecutive national championship and the eighth women's league championship in program history. With Hewitt's guidance, the Shark swimmers won seven national titles at the NCAA championship, broke three NCAA Division II records, and set six conference records. Twelve NSU women won a combined 45 All-America honors, and the Sharks' program claimed its seventh SSC Swimmer of the Meet, sixth SSC Swimmer of the Year, and the CSCAA National Swimmer of the Year.
