Swimming Sets Four School Records on Day One of Gamecock Invite
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams faced their biggest test of the 2024-25 season as the Spartans competed on day one of the three-day Gamecock Invite, which is hosted by the University of South Carolina at Carolina Natatorium. The Spartans are second overall in men's action, while the women are third overall.

Top Tampa Swimmers (Men's)
- Jacob Hamlin set a new NCAA Division II National Record and school record with a second place time of 4:16.84 in 500 Free.
- William Beckstead-Holman and Parker Knollman finished 11th and 12th, respectively, in 200 IM as Kenan Dean was 13th.
- Tibor Tistan had a a first place finish for Spartans, also setting a new pool record with school record 50 Free time of 19.31.
- Tampa concluded day one with a fifth place time of 3:09.87 in 400 Medley Relay from Parker Knollman, Richard Polasek, Tibor Tistan and Caleb Brandon.
Top Tampa Swimmers (Women)
- After setting a new 500 Free school record in Wednesday's prelims, Laura Hodgson broke her own school record by nearly 3 seconds in the finals. Hodgson's new mark was 4:49.27.
- Freshman Carlie Tyler led the Spartans in 200 IM, placing 13th with a time of 2:01.98.
- Tilde Morin paced the Spartans in the Women's 50 Free, finishing eighth with a time of 23.12.
- The Spartan women finished day one with a school record time of 3:41.58 in 400 Medley Relay. Kim McCaffrey led off with school record 100 Back with a time of 54.45, followed by Alicia Soderlind, Sierra Gillan and Tilde Morin.
