Tampa Swimming Sets School Record, Breaks Meet Record on First Day at SSC Championships
CALA, Fla. – The first day of the 2025 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships ended with Nova Southeastern taking a 10-point lead over Tampa in the women's standings (58-48) after claiming first in the 800 free relay. Meanwhile, Tampa's 58 points give it an early 18-point lead over Florida Southern and Lynn who are each tied at 40 points in the men's standings.

Women's 800-Yard Freestyle Relay
- Tampa's A-team (Sierra Gillan, Lindsey Louder, Laura Hodgson, Burlingtyn Bokos) finished 2nd place with a time of 7:22.04, improving from their seed time of 7:25.80. The time established a new school record for Tampa.
- The B-team (Roma Vrijhof, Alyssa Webb, Morgan Wimberly, Carlie Tyler) secured 10th place in the B-final with a time of 7:27.95.
Men's 800-Yard Freestyle Relay
- Tampa's A-team (Caleb Brandon, Parker Knollman, Jacob Hamlin, Rafael Ponce De Leon) claimed 1st place with a stellar time of 6:24.70, beating their seed time of 6:27.12.The time also set an SSC meet record.
- The B-team (Jaxson Row, Barnabas Fluck, William Beckstead-Holman, Diego Dulieu) finished 9th overall with 6:37.75.
The championship resumes on Thursday, February 13th at 10:00 AM with Day 2 prelims.
