
Both Spartan Teams in First as SSC Championships Crosses Mid-Way Mark
OCALA, Fla. – Day three of the 2025 Sunshine State Conference Swim Championship saw Tampa take a narrow 15-point lead over Nova Southeastern with 461 points on the women's side. Nova Southeastern now remains on the hunt with 446 points while Lynn rounds out the top three with 303.5 points.
Tampa's men looked to further the gap between themselves and Florida Southern as the Spartans remained in first place with 458.5 points while the Mocs stayed put in second place with 299.5 points. Nova Southeastern's men continued to hang in the top three heading into the fourth day of the SSC Championship with 257 points.
Day four begins with prelims at 10 AM.
CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
Top Performances: Luna Mertins of Lynn started Day three of the championship by breaking the previous Women's 100 Fly NCAA Division II record time of 52.06 with a record-shattering time of 51.85 for a first-place finish. May Lowy of Nova Southeastern earned first in the women's 400 IM for a second year in a row, posting a 4:14.84. Nova Southeastern captured the final medal of the night in the women's individual races as Kristina Orban brought home the Sharks' second gold medal of the evening by swimming the 200 Free in 1:46.27 for a new meet record. The team of Maria Goncalves, Claire Gass, May Lowy, Zsofia Kurdi from Nova Southeastern captured the gold in the 400 medley relay at 3:39.75 to close out women's competition on day three.
Turning to the men's portion of the evening's championship, Parker Knollman of Tampa claimed the first gold medal of the night, winning the 100 Fly with a time of 46.94. The Men's 400 IM would see Rollins' men take home the gold as Evan McInerny swam a 3:52.08. Vitaly Kostin locked up the final individual gold medal of the night for Lynn, recording a 1:35.26 in the 200 free. The men's squad of Brandon Wilson, Janek Barczyk, Nino Viallon, Matheus Da Rocha from Florida Southern capped off the evening with an SSC record-setting time of 3:08.87.
