UT Set To Host Distance Carnival
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa track team is set to host the UT Distance Carnival on Friday, an event that will bring nearly 800 runners to Pepin Stadium.
In addition to the host Spartans, the collegiate field will also include men and women from Ave Maria, Florida Tech, Florida College, Georgia College, Saint Leo, South Florida, Valdosta State and Webber International.
The race is set to begin at 4 p.m., with the gates opening one hour prior to the start of competition.
A total of 26 high schools will also compete in separate races as an additional 30 unattached runners will also compete in the college races. The Pensacola Training Center and the Running Center will also appear with the college runners.
This will mark the fifth event of the season for the UT track team, who has already competed at the South Florida three times and Florida State.
On the men's side, UT's Anthony Quezada has a pair of school records as Kevin Harley and Lewis Price have also new UT records. Charles Toledo, Kyle Taylor, Mike Zwijacs, Jake Bailey, Kevin Lane and Eddie Paniccia have also registered personal records.
In women's action, Iolani Scanlon, Heather Nicolosi, Jessie Luttenschlager, Kaia Hampton, Katie O'Brien and Kelly Hagan have all notched personal records for the Spartans.
