
UT Runs at Tom Jones Meet
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's track teams ran at the tom Jones Meet, which was hosted by the University of Florida.
The Spartan women began the race in the 100 Meter Dash as Lindsay Smith was 21st overall with a time of 13.05.
In the 200 Meter Dash, Smith led a group of Spartans with a 36th place finish. Her time was 27.06. Also running for Tampa were Angelica Wagner (38th, 28.27), Erin Mertz (39th, 29.80) and Jocelyn Doina (40th, 29.87).
Haley Weaver competed in the 400 Meter Dash, crossing the finish line with a 16th place showing and time of 1:04.24.
The 800 Meter Run featured a pair of Spartans with Sarah Waller leading the way with a 12th place effort and a new personal record. She was timed at 2:16.78. Kristin Kelly was 16th with a time of 2:25.47.
Kelly Hagan was 10th in the 1,500 Meter Run with a personal record, running the race in 4:29.15. Other Spartans in the event were Liz Anthony (26th, 5:13.61) and Iolani Scanlan (28th, 5:19.31).
Tyrone Clayton started off the men's portion with a 25th place showing in the 100 Meter Dash. Clayton was timed at 11.27. He also finished 30th in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 22.74.
Steven Dennig was one of two UT runners in the 800 Meter Run as the sophomore was eighth with a time of 1:55.26. Josh Morrison was 11th at 2:00.33.
In the 1,500 Meter Run, Peter Licari was seventh with a time of 4:07.50. Tory Webb (ninth, 4:13.58), Geremy DeWitt (11th, 4:15.44) and Dennig (15th, 4:20.54) also represented the Spartans in the event.
Webb and Mike Zwijacz finished fifth and sixth respectively in the 3,000 Meter Run, clocking times of 8:53.58 and 8:54.15. Mike Leone also participated and finished 11th with a 9:13.96 performance. Zwijacz and Leone both registered a new personal record in the run.
Tampa will return to action in its final meet of the 2013 season on May 4-5 at the Florida State University Spring Time.
