Track Concludes Successful USF Invitational
TAMPA, Fla. - Both the University of Tampa men's and women's track teams competed at the University of South Florida Invitational, achieving several personal records and one school record.
Jimmy Wear set a new school record in the 400, registering a time of 49.46 as the freshman's new record was set by nearly one full second. His performance was good for 10th place overall.
A pair of Spartans finished in the top-10 in the women's 800 Meter Run. Kelly Hagan and Sarah Waller were sixth and seventh respectively. Hagan was clocked at 2:19.25 while Waller trailed at 2:19.69.
Hagan was also fourth in the 1,500 Meter Run with a time of 4:45.60. Teammate Claudia Cancello was eighth with a 4:52.29 effort. Vanessa Righeimer was sixth in the 3,000 Meter Run at 10:41.64 as Danielle Kissel rounded out the top 10 at 10:57.84.
Chantalle Blundell competed in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase as the Spartan finished second overall with a time of 11:26.74.
In the men's 1,500 Meter Run, Geremy DeWitt was 10th with a time of 4:07.65. DeWitt was also ninth in the 3,000 Meter run after being clocked at 8:56.58.
The Spartans return to action on March 20-21 as they split groups at the University of South Florida and Florida State University.
