Spartans Run at UNF Invite
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's track team competed at the University of North Florida Spring Break Invitational over the weekend.
In the women's 800 Meter Section 2 race, Sarah Waller was fifth with a time of 2:21.54. In Section 3, Tori Ehrhardt was second at 2:33.68.
The men's 800 Meter Section 1 event, Jimmy Wear turned in a fifth-place effort and time of 1:55.59. Also running for the Spartans were Jessie Boria (Section 2, 3rd, 1:59.18), Scott Billings (Section 3, 5th, 2:03.46) and Marcus Tivis (Section 3, 7th, 2:05.77).
Kelly Hagan was fourth in the women's 1,500 Meter race, running the event in 4:41.98. Waller also competed and placed 14th after being clocked at 5:41.82.
In the women's 5,000 Meter, a total of four Spartans entered and were led by Chantalle Blundell's sixth-place time of 18:02.49, which was also a personal record. Vanessa Righeimer (7th, 18:03.19), Claudia Cancello (10th, 18:21.01 PR) and Elaina Cancello (17th, 18:49.63 PR) also represented the Spartans.
The men's 10K included a host of UT runners as Geremy DeWitt led the way with a 10th-place effort of 15:38.93. Also running for UT were Matt Hoffman (13th, 15:50.65), Michael Zwijacz (15th, 15:52.54), Kyle Taylor (18th, 16:05.78), Cory Munsch (25th, 16:40.93), Brendan McGonagle (28th, 16:51.19) and Aaron Oldanie (30th, 16:55.84).
The Spartans return to action on Friday at the Florida Relays in
Gainesville. UT will also compete at Embry-Riddle on Saturday.
