Spartans Return to Indoor Action at Celebration Pointe
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's track teams returned to action in the indoor circuit, competing at the two-day Celebration Pointe Indoor Classic at the Alachua County Sports Complex at Celebration Pointe.
Top Spartan Performers (Men)
- John Trombley raced to a sixth-place finish in the 200, logging a time of 22.79.
- The Spartans had seven runners in the 3,000 top 10, led by runner-up Devon Sullivan with a time of 8:41.17. He was followed by Aaron Engelhardt (3), Dominic Brink (4), GioVenchy Cerisier (5), Paul Wales (6), Caleb Belmont (7) and Sean Popik (10).
- Freshman Joey Coulter led a host of Spartans in the 300, finishing third with a 35.91. Khalil Snell was fourth in the event while Daniel Perez was seventh.
- Ayden Morales placed fifth in the 800, finishing at 1:56.59.
- In the mile, George Alexander placed third overall with a 4:15.70. Paul Wales and Jared Hammill also finished in the top 10 at sixth and 10th respectively.
- Tampa finished with a third in the 1,600 Relay. A time of 3:26.94 came from Wade Martin, Perez, Snell and Coulter.
Top Spartan Performers (Women)
- Taylor Guthrie was the top Spartan in the 3,000, registering a 10:56.51 time for a 10th-place finish.
- UT was third in the 4,000 Medley Relay, with a time of 12:17.47 from Emma Skinner, Nicole Sullivan, Emily Kriney and Hannah Capel.
- The Spartans took 1-2 in the 500 with Zahra Wilson posting a first-place time of 1:20.62. She edged teammate Elizabeth York in the event.
- Lillian Hicks finished the 300 with a time of 43.18, which was good for ninth place. Teammate Lily Canoy followed in 10th.
- Tampa concluded Friday with a fifth-place 1,600 Relay performance, recording a time of 4:06.18. The Spartans quartet included Wilson, York, Hicks, Kayden Kruchoski, Allison Murphy and Canoy.

Tampa returns to action at the Florida Invite in Gainesville, Fla., on February 9-10. The event will take place at the same venue, the Alachua County Sports Complex at Celebration Pointe.
