Four School Records Set at UCF Invite
ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's track teams returned to action, competing in the two-day UCF Invite, hosted by the University of Central Florida
Top Spartan Performers (Men)
- The 100 included a 20th-place finish from Jake Swad with a time of 11.16.
- Joey Coulter led UT in the 200 as his finishing time was 22.29.
- Freshman John Trombley was 10th in the 400 as he posted a top-10 time of 49.40.
- Paul Wales ran the 800 in a time of 1:56.94, which was good for 15th overall.
- The 1,500 included several Spartans, with Jared Hammill being the fastest with a 16th-place time of 4:00.18.
- Four Spartans were in the top-10 in the 5,000, led by fifth-place finisher GioVenchy Cerisier at 15:16.74. Devon Sullivan followed in sixth place while Sean Popik and Dominic Brink were eighth and 10th respectively.
- The 400 Hurdles included Jayden Berry as he was 13th with a showing of 1:03.00.
- In the 4x100 Relay, UT's sixth-place time of 42.58 came from Maurice Gentry, Wade Martin, Riley Pelletier and Swad.
- UT closed the meet with a school record time of 3:60.20 and seventh-place finish in the 4x400 Relay. The record-setting quartet included Trombley, Shane Cohen, Khalil Snell and Coulter.
Top Spartan Performers (Women)
- Camilla Nicholas was the top Spartan in the 100, finishing 17th in 12.29. She also led UT in the 200 with a school record time of 24.70, good for 17th place in both events.
- Tampa's Nicole Sullivan was 16th in the 400 with a finish of 1:00.41.
- Zahra Wilson placed 14th in the 800 as she was clocked at 2:20.10.
- The Spartan duo of Emma Skinner and Hannah Capel were in the top-10 of the 1,500 at eighth and ninth respectively.
- Tabitha Suggs won the 5,000 as her time of 10:30.27 was the top effort.
- Allison Murphy broke her own school record in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 15.74. She would also place 14th in the 400 Hurdles as she completed the race in 1:05.71.
- In the 4x100 Relay, Tampa was fifth with a time of 47.88 from Jada Bolhuis, Lillian Hicks, Jaime Hicks and Nicholas.
- UT capped off the event with a school record time of 4:00.68 in the 4x400 Relay. The record was set by Sullivan, L. Hicks, Kayden Kruchoski and Wilson.
Up Next
The Spartans travel to Cleveland, Tenn., where they will compete at the Flames Invitational at Lee University on April 7-8. UT will also send runners to the USF Invite on April 8.
