Tampa Cross Country Set for SSC Championships
2016 race will be hosted Florida Tech at Wickham Park in Melbourne on Saturday
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's cross country teams will each compete at the 2016 Sunshine State Conference Championships on Saturday.
Florida Tech will host the 2016 Sunshine State Conference Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships. The event will take place at Wickham Park in Melbourne, Florida. The men's 8k will start at 7:45 a.m., followed shortly by the women's 6k at 8:30 a.m.
Tampa's men own one SSC championship, coming in 2011. The Spartan women have won 13 SSC titles, with the most recent coming in 2015. UT's women have now won eight of the previous nine conference championship races.
NCAA Postseason: Regional competition will be held on Saturday, November 5th or Sunday, November 6th in Saint Leo, Florida. NCAA Finals will be held Saturday, November 19th in Saint Leo, Florida. Saint Leo University and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission will host both races at the Abbey Course on the campus of Saint Leo University.
