SSC Names Aspen Gordon Runner of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa women's cross country senior Aspen Gordon was honored as the Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Week for her effort at the Southern Stampede.

Gordon secures Runner of the Week laurels with her performance at the Southern Stampede hosted by Missouri Southern in Joplin, Missouri. Gordon earned a fourth-place finish out of 197 runners in the 5000-meter race. The Morton, Illinois native recorded a time of 17:48.0 at the event, averaging a 5:34.7 mile. Her efforts led Tampa to a second-place finish out of 20 teams, just two points back of No. 19 Pittsburg State.

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of September 11-17, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
