Aspen Gordon Receives Secnd SSC Runner of Week Award in Three Weeks

MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa women's cross country senior Aspen Gordon has been presented as the Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Gordon takes Runner of the Week for the second time in 2023 for her performance at the Florida State XC Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida. The Morton, Illinois native finished 10th of 341 runners and was the top NCAA Division II performer at the invite. Gordon completed the 5000-meter race in 17:50.1, seven seconds faster than the next D2 finisher. With Gordon's performance, Tampa finished fourth of 35 teams, besting nine Division I programs.

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of September 25 - October 1, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
