170 UT Student-Athletes Named to SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The University of Tampa was heavily represented as the Sunshine State Conference announced that 1,639 student-athletes have been named to the Spring 2022 Commissioner's Honor Roll presented by Barnes & Noble College.
In all, a total of 170 UT student-athletes were recognized, led by 32 for the women's lacrosse team. Also recognized were women's swimming (29), men's lacrosse (28), rowing (18), softball (17), men's swimming (11), tennis (10), baseball (8), women's golf (6), men's basketball (4), women's basketball (4) and men's golf (3).
The announcement, made on Wednesday, June 29th, by Commissioner Ed Pasque, includes 363 student-athletes with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average for the semester.
The 2022 numbers mark the third time in which the SSC has recognized over 1,600 student-athletes and 350 perfect grade-point averages on the Spring Honor Roll. The record of 1,819 SSC Spring Honor Roll recipients and 517 perfect grade-point averages was set in Spring 2020.
To be eligible for the Spring SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum
grade-point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Participants in the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, baseball, and softball are eligible for the spring honor roll.
Having won 117 Division II National Championships since the league was founded in 1975, SSC's student-athletes have proven successful in competition in addition to the classroom. SSC student-athletes achieved an 88-percent Academic Success Rate (ASR) for 2020-21, breaking a 10-Year streak of 86-percent Academic Success Rates. The SSC ranks second among NCAA Division II conferences in 2020-21 ASR and has never fallen below that mark in the metric's 16-year history.
