Spartans Hit Way to Win Series Over Georgia College

Keven Pimentel moves to 2-0 with another strong outing.

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team faced off againt the Georgia College Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Stephen Smith scored the first run of the game with a RBI from Darren Miller in the bottom of the first. Drew Ehrhard scored off a sacrificed fly from Bragg. 
  • Bottom of the fifth Brandon Gali scored. Smith scored off of a single from Bragg. Ehrhard scored off a single from Sirven. Harrison Bragg scored off a wild pitch. 
  • The Spartans kept the lead at the top of the sixth at 6-0.
  • The Bobcats battled back with one run in the top of the sixth. 
  • Bottom of the sixth Gali scored off a double from from Smith. Miller singled allowing Smith to score. Miller scored off a single from Danny Sirven. Sirven and Bragg both scored off a single from Chris Gaffney. 
  • Pitcher Tyler Beck relieved Keven Pimentel at the top of the seventh. 
  • Top of the ninth pitcher Christian Calleja relieved Tyler Beck.
  • Georgia College unable to answer. Spartans won 11-1. 

INSIDE THE STATS:

  • Pimentel started for the Spartans and completed with an IP of 6.0 
  • Beck had three strikeouts. 
  • Smith led the Spartans in runs and hits at 3 three. 
  • Ehrhard, Bragg, and Gali each had two hits and two runs.
  • Miller, Sirven, and DeTringo also had two hits. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Spartans scored at least one first-inning run in every game.
  • Tampa recorded season high of 11 runs.   
  • The 6.0 innings pitched by Pimentel marked a season high for a Spartans starter. First Spartan of the season to win two games.
