
Spartans Take Game One From Golden Rams
The University of Tampa baseball team traveled to Georgia to take on the Albany State Golden Rams and were victorious, 7-1.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team traveled to Albany State to take on the Golden Rams and defeated them in the first game of the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Danny Sirven was the first Spartan to register a hit as he singled to right center. Nick DeTringo then came up to bat and singled to right field, advancing Sirven to third base. DeTringo then stole second base. After a wild pitch, DeTringo stole third and Sirven scored, giving the Spartans their first run.
- Harrison Bragg started off the top of the fourth with a homer to deep center field. DeTringo then got on base after hitting a single to the shortstop. He then stole second base and third base to get into scoring position. Brandon Gali came up to the bag and singled to left field, scoring DeTringo and making the score 3-0.
- Drew Ehrhard started the top of the fifth inning with a single to center field. Darren Miller got on base with a walk. Miller and Ehrhard each advanced a base after Connor Crile grounded out to first base. Sirven then drove in two runs with a triple to right field and then scored on a balk, making the score 6-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
- The Spartans picked up their last run of the game in the top of the sixth inning.
- The Golden Rams scored in the bottom of the eighth but were unable to close in on the Spartans lead. Tampa went on to win 7-1.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- David Lebron recorded his third win of the season while tallying 14 strikeouts.
- Bragg, DeTringo and Gali led the Spartans in hits and runs, each with two hits and one run.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- This outing is Lebron's fifth career double figure strikeout performance.
- Bragg recorded his sixth home run of the season.

Tampa returns to action tomorrow, March 10th, at 1:00PM for a double header with the Golden Rams.
