
Spartans Defeat Bucs in Decisive Win
The University of Tampa baseball team hosted the Bucs for the first game of the series and were victorious.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team took on the Barry Bucs and were victorious with a score of 9-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Spartans were the first team to put a run up on the board after Darren Miller was walked to get on first base. Connor Crile then came up to the plate and doubled to center field, scoring Miller for the Spartans first run. Richie Rivera registered his first hit of the game on a single to center field that would bring Crile around to home plate, giving the Spartans a 2-0 lead.
- Danny Sirven registered his first hit with a single to right field. Miller then came up to bat and singled to left field, advancing Sirven to second base. Crile reached on a fielder's choice while Miller reached second on a throwing error by the first baseman and Sirven moved to third base. Rivera then hit a sacrifice fly to left field that brought Sirven across the bag making the score 3-0. Stephen Smith recorded his first hit of the night on a double down the right-field line that would bring two more runs in for the Spartans. Drew Ehrhard continued the hitting run with a double down the left field line that brought Smith across the bag and gave the Spartans another run, 6-0. Harrison Bragg got in on the action and singled, scoring Ehrhard. The Spartans led 7-0 heading into the top of the fifth inning.
- The Spartans picked up two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning making the score 9-0.
- The Bucs picked up one run in the top of the eighth inning.
- The Spartans went on to win 9-1.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Lebron had his fifth win of the season.
- Pitchers tallied 14 strikeouts. Lebron led the Spartans in strikeouts with 10
- Smith went 1-4 with two RBI and one double
- Crile went 1-3 with two RBI and one double
- Rivera went 1-3 with three RBI

Tampa returns to action on Saturday, March 24th, at 1:00 PM for a doubleheader against Barry.
