
Spartans Leave Bucs Shipwrecked
The University of Tampa baseball team completed the sweep of the Barry Bucs.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team swept the Barry Bucs in a three game conference series.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME 2:
- The Bucs were the first team to put a run up on the board in the top of the first.
- Bottom of the first the Spartans battle back with three runs. Drew Ehrhard RBI; Steven Smith advanced to third, scored on a throwing error by rf. Harrison Bragg doubled down the lf line, RBI; Ehrhard scored. Bragg scored off a hit from Danny Sirven.
- Barry scored a run at top of the second. Tampa led 3-2.
- Richie Rivera flied out to lf, sacrifice fly, RBI; Connor Crile scored. Brandon Gali homered.
- Bottom of the fifth Darren Miller RBI allowed Bragg to score.
- Smith singled through the right side, RBI; Rivera scored.
- The Spartans scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth. Rivera scored off a RBI from Smith. Bragg homered to left field, 3 RBI; Ehrhard scored; Smith scored. RBI from Crile allowed Miller to score. Crile scored off an RBI from Nick DeTringo. The Spartans led 12-2.
- Bottom of the seventh the Spartans scored one more run. Bragg RBI allowed Danny Maynard scored.
- Cole Aker relieved pitcher Keven Pimentel in the top of the eighth.
- The Spartans went on to win 13-2.
INSIDE THE STATS GAME 2:
- Pimentel had his seventh win of the season.
- Pitchers tallied eight strikeouts. Pimentel led the Spartans in strikeouts with five
- Gali hit his first homerun of the season. Bragg with his ninth of the season
- Bragg 4-5 with five RBI, two singles and a homerun
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME 3:
- The Bucs were the first team to put a run up on the board in the top of the first.
- Bragg grounded into double play 2b to ss to 1b; Ehrhard out on the play; Smith scored.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning Smith singled down the left field line. Ehrhard then singled to right side, advancing Smith to second. Bragg continued the hitting run with a single through the left side, scoring Smith. Miller brought in another run for the Spartans with a single, tying the game 3-3. The Spartans continued their hitting tear with a single to right field from Rivera that would bring Miller and Bragg across the bag and giving the Spartans the lead 5-3. The Spartans picked up two more runs on a single through the left side from Gali.
- The Spartans scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning that would increase their lead to 9-3.
INSIDE THE STATS GAME 3:
- Ehrhard went 3-3 with two runs
- DeTringo went 3-4 with one run
- Smith went 2-4 with two runs
- Rivera and Gali each recorded two RBI
- Helvey recorded his second win of the season
- Moclair earned his fifth save of the season
