
Spartans Ground Eagles in Game One
The University of Tampa baseball team traveled to Daytona Beach to take on the Eagles and defeated them 15-6.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team took on the Embry-Riddle Eagles and defeated them 15-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Spartans started the top of the first inning off with one run, taking the lead over the Eagles.
- Harrison Bragg started the top of the third inning with a single through the left side. Then, Danny Sirven doubled to right center, scoring Bragg. Connor Crile then came up to bat and singled through the right side scoring Sirven, increasing the Spartans lead to 3-0.
- The Eagles responded in the bottom of the third and fourth with three runs and one run, respectively.
- The Spartans picked up one more run in the top of the fifth, taking the lead back from the Eagles 4-3.
- The Eagles scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth, changing the lead once again.
- Crile was hit by a pitch to start out the top of the sixth inning. Brandson Gali then singled to right field, moving Crile to third base. Stephen Smith was walked to get on base, moving Gali to second and loading the bases. Drew Ehrhard was then walked to get on first, Crile scored. Bragg then singled to right center and collecting two RBI. Darren Miller singled to third base, bringing Ehrhard around to home plate.
- The top of the eighth was a big inning for the Spartans as Nick DeTringo hit a grand slam, increasing the Spartans lead to 13-6.
- The Spartans scored two more runs in the top of the ninth.
- The Eagles did not respond to the Spartans and Tampa went on to win 15-6.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Mark Moclair earned his fifth win of the season
- Six Spartans registered at least two hits
- DeTringo led the team with four RBI
- David Lebron and Mark Moclair recorded 14 strikeouts for the Spartans
UP NEXT:
Tampa returns to action on Saturday, April 7th, at 1:00 PM for a doubleheader against Embry-Riddle.
