At Michigan State (2023)

  • Returned to Michigan State University for 2023 season.

  • Made Spartan debut in season-opener at UNLV (2/18/22), going 3.0 IP with three Ks with one hit and no runs.
  • Posted career-high five Ks and went career-long 4.0 IP vs. Minnesota (5/1/22), including ringing up three Ks in sixth inning, getting first two Ks then yielding a single before finishing off frame with another punchout, which was also one of 12 outings with multiple strikeouts and one of 16 outings of 1.0 IP or longer.
  • Struck out the side on three KLs vs. Notre Dame (4/26/22) at Comerica Park.
  • Rang up a 1-2-3 inning with back-to-back strikeouts to end inning at Northwestern (4/24/22) and earn first save of Spartan career.
  • Worked a three-up, three-down ninth inning at Western Michigan (5/11/22) to log second save.
  • Had two outs on just one pitch, coming in and inducing a double play on first pitch vs. Minnesota (4/29/22).
  • Had 12 outings without yielding a run, including a stretch of five-straight appearances (4/20-5/1/22).

At Lansing CC (2020-21)

  • Played two seasons at LCC for former Spartan player and assistant coach Jordan Keur, helping the Stars to a 47-3 record in 2021 and a runner-up finish at the NJCAA Region XII Championship.
  • Earned first-team All-League and All-District accolades in 2021, after posting a 5-0 record and a 2.84 ERA with 60 Ks in 38.0 IP, making eight appearances.
  • Registered a 14.21 K/9 average that led LCC and ranked 10th in the NJCAA
  • Tallied a 7-0 two-year career record at LCC in 10 appearances, with 75 Ks in 47.0 IP (14.36 K/9) with a career ERA of 2.68.
  • Had a career-best  17 strikeouts in 6.0 innings. 

At Bowling Green

  • Redshirted the 2019 season at Bowling Green.

High School

  • Was a two-year letterwinner at Stoney Creek High School for coach Clint Rodgers.
  • Earned honorable mention All-State accolades, along with earning All-Region, All-District and All-OAA honors after helping Stoney Creek to a 30-11 record and conference title.
  • Selected to play in the Michigan High School All-Star game.
  • Pitched 48 innings, yielding only three earned runs, posting a 0.34 ERA as a senior, which broke the school record.
  • Played summer league for the Royal Oak Leprechauns and Jetbox Oakland.

  • Has two brothers and one sister.
  • Communications and Speech Studies major.
  • Father, Jimmy Carson, played 10 seasons in the NHL, including playing for the LA Kings and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 1987, part of scoring more goals as a teenager than any player in NHL history with 92 goals and later reached 100 goals as the second-youngest at 20 years, 116 days old, trailing only Wayne Gretzky (20 years, 40 days old).
  • Jimmy also played for the Edmonton Oilers, Detroit Red Wins, Vancouver Canucks and Hartford Whalers, including selected to play in the 1989 NHL All-Star Game while with the Edmonton Oilers.
