Gonzalez Throws Six Scoreless in No. 1 Spartans Win Over Quincy

TAMPA, Fla. – The #1 University of Tampa Spartans take game one of the series behind Skylar Gonzalez's six scoreless innings.

Records: #1 Tampa (6-1), Quincy (1-3)

All-Time Series: This was the 6^th meeting between these two programs. Tampa leads 4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Spartans would put up a four spot in the first inning. Jordan Williams would lead off the inning by getting hit by a pitch. Later in the inning, the Spartans would load the bases with a single from Cole Russo and a Brayden Woodburn walk. Kevin Karstetter would follow with a triple down the right field line, scoring three Spartans. Karstette would come around to score on the play. End 1 | 4-0 Tampa
• Tampa would load the bases up, all with two outs in the inning; Russo walked, Woodburn singled, and Karstette walked. Lenny Ashby followed by getting plunked by a pitch to bring in Russo. End 5 | 5-0 Tampa
• After a leadoff J.D. Urso walk, Urso would attempt to steal second when Russo ripped a double down the right field line to bring in Urso. End 7 | 6-0 Tampa
• The Spartans would score two runs in the inning via a Jake Griffith double and a Drake Harman RBI walk. End 8 | 8-0 Tampa
