Spartans Takes Series Win Over Saint Leo With Doubleheader Split

ST. LEO, Fla. – The No. 2 University of Tampa baseball team wrapped up its regular season with a split on the road Friday afternoon, taking the opener 7–0 before falling 4–2 in Game 2 of a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader at Thomas B. Southard Stadium. Tampa closes the regular season at 43–7 overall and 27–3 in conference play, heading to the 2025 NCAA Tournament with its fifth straight Sunshine State Conference championship and 24th in program history.

Game 1: Tampa 7, Saint Leo 0

• Tampa opened the twin bill with a statement victory, blanking the Lions behind a lights-out outing from graduate right-hander C.J. Williams, who was the winning pitcher. The Spartan ace improved to 12-2 on the season.
• Williams threw 5.0 innings, allowed 4 hits, issued no walks, and struck out 5 batters while earning the win.
• Ryan Stefiuk threw 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing just 2 hits and no walks while striking out 2.
• Jake Stipp pitched the final 4.0 innings, allowing 4 hits and striking out 2 to register his first save of the season.
• Cole Russo got the scoring started with a grand slam, and would finish 1-for-2, with 4 RBI, 2 walks and 2 runs.
• Mike Valdez also connected on a solo home run as part of his 1-for-2 day with 2 walks and 2 runs.
• Brayden Woodburn was 2-for-5 with a stolen base as he was also part of 2 double plays turned.

• Karstetter added 2 hits, driving in 1 run and scoring once himself. He also had a stolen base.
• Edgardo Villegas delivered 2 hits and drove in 1 run. He also drew a walk.
• Catcher Santiago Garavito contributed offensively with 2 hits and drew 1 walk.
• Valdez added to Tampa's offense with 2 hits.
• Brayden Woodburn had 1 hit and was hit by a pitch. He also stole a base.
