
Tampa in Top Five at Panther Invite
PALM BAY, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team displayed a fifth-place showing at the Florida Tech Invitational, which was a three-round event played at The Majors Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
UT opened play with a first-round 311 and concluded play on Monday with a 308. The Spartans show a 324 on Tuesday, finishing at 943. Host Florida Tech shot an 876 to top Saint Leo, Eckerd and Brevard. Tampa finished ahead of Hope, Taylor and Murray State Community College.
Steven Embree led the Spartans, finishing 12th overall with a final score of 228 (+12). Embree began play with a pair of 75's, and finished Tuesday with a 78.
Taylor Noel shot a 235 as Mark Cleary (243), Jeff Baulet (246), Kevin Genuardi (246) and Parker Wingfield (275) also golfed for Rick Christie's Spartans.
UT is back in action at the North Alabama Invitational from March 26-27.
