
Regular Season Complete as UT Golfs at Barry Invite
Spartans now turn focus to postseason play.
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's golf team had its final tune-up of the regular season as it faced off against a host of nationally-ranked teams at The Battle at the Shores.

UT Finish: 11th, 912 strokes (302-308-302), +60

TOP SPARTAN PERFORMERS:
• Justin Elwell | 50th overall, 228
• Gray Barnes | 55th overall, 230
• Danny Syring | 55th overall, 230
• Jacques Celestino | 68th overall, 233
• Eddie Doyle | 68th overall, 233
OTHER NOTABLES:
• A total of 16 teams competed.
• Tampa was among seven Sunshine State Conference teams, plus provisional members Embry-Riddle and Palm Beach Atlantic.
• Elwell shot UT's top round with a 73 in Tuesday's finale.
• This marks the second time in 2016-17 where Elwell has been UT's top golfer. He also led the way at the Webber Fall Classic.
• Head coach Rick Christie also registered a pair of individuals, including Unai Beitia and Robert Montagnino. Both shot a 234.
• Barry's Niclas Weiland took medalist honors with a 206.
• The top three teams were all from the SSC. Following Barry were Nova Southeastern (857) and Florida Tech (864).

Tampa looks forward to the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Championships, which will be played at Duran Golf Course in Melbourne, Fla., from April 16-19.
