LAKE WALES, Fla. - The No. 3 University of Tampa Spartans men's soccer team shut out Webber International on Wednesday in the second of back-to-back matches. Making his first start at goalkeeper for Tampa, junior Clete Goddard made five saves to preserve the victory and improve the Spartans' record to 8-0-1 overall. The loss drops the Warriors to 6-5 on the year.
The Spartans generated 19 shots in the contest, nine on goal against Webber's Andres Zwaans. The lone goal of the match was scored by National Player of the Year candidate Pascal Milien, his eighth goal of the season, assisted by Mike Bethel. The goal was scored in the 26th minute and stood for the remainder of the contest.
Head Coach Adrian Bush said following the game, "I'm very happy for Clete Goddard and the entire backline. We've got to continue to build and get better in a lot of areas of our game. We've got to get ready for Florida Southern on Friday night."
