Spartans Blank Moccasins In SSC Showdown
TAMPA, Fla. - With their highest offensive output of the season, the No. 3 University of Tampa men's soccer team defeated Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Southern College by a final score of 4-0. The win brings the Spartans' record to 9-0-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in conference play, while the Moccasins drop to 1-8 and 1-4 in the SSC.
The Spartans broke open scoring in the 15th minute when Lister Warren scored off a pass from Pascal Milien. It was Milien's first assist of the season and Warren's fourth goal of the year. Seven minutes later, Milien fed a pass from the top of the box to freshman Brian Fekete who put it past FSC goalkeeper Paul DiPalma to bring the score to 2-0.
At the 38:32 minute mark, senior defender Zach Fraser took a long range shot from forty yards out that went over DiPalma's head and into the back of the net for his first career goal. Tampa took the 3-0 lead into the half before freshman Matt Davies scored his first goal of the season in the 78th minute to close out the scoring for the Spartans.
Tampa collected their third win in four days after visiting Palm Beach Atlantic and Webber International during the week.
"Three games in four days is never easy," head coach Adrian Bush said. "It's a credit to the guys on a great week, but now we've got three days to get ready for Eckerd."
It was Tampa's second shutout in as many games, as senior goalkeeper Ryan Thompson finished with six saves in the game.
The Spartans will look to improve upon their 3-0 conference
record when they travel to St. Petersburg on Tuesday night for a 7
p.m. contest against 3-1 Eckerd. Fans may follow University of
