Griffin and Swan Earn Academic All-District Honors

TAMPA, Fla. - Ryan Griffin and Karl Swan, midfielders on The University of Tampa's men's soccer team, were named to the CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Soccer Team. Griffin was named to the first-team while Swan was honored on the second-team.

Recognized as the elite academic award, all first-team selections will now appear on the ballot for the 2009 CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Team. Voting is done by Sports Information Directors.

The sophomores have played a huge rule controlling midfield for the 14-1-1 Spartans this year. Griffin has tallied two goals to go along with four assists this season while playing in each of Tampa's 16 games. Swan has started 14 of the Spartans' matches this season, collecting his first goal of the season against Saint Leo last Thursday.
