Spartans Head Into Conference Tournament At No. 8 Nationally
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - After its second consecutive 2-0 week, The University of Tampa men's moved up a spot in the latest NSCAA II National Poll to No. 8. The Spartans have appeared in the top 10 in each poll this season, including a three-week stint at No. 1.
Following Monday night's shutout of Johnson and Wales University, the Spartans closed out their regular season with a decisive 5-1 victory over Sunshine State Conference foe Saint Leo on Thursday night. Lister Warren's three goals in the game earned him SSC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Millersville took over the top spot in the poll after previous No.1 Lees-McRae played to a tie with Anderson, who had been ranked No. 15 at the time. Fort Lewis, Drury, West Texas A&M, and SSC opponent Rollins round out the top five, followed by Cal State-LA, Lees-McRae, and Tampa.
After receiving a bye in the first round of the SSC Tournament, the Spartans begin postseason play on Friday with an 8 p.m. semifinal matchup against the winner of Lynn/Nova Southeastern.
