Ryan Griffin Picks Up Top SSC Accolade
ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Tampa's Ryan Griffin has been named Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending October 23.
A senior midfielder, Griffin (Brandon, Fla.) tallied four goals and an assist in a 1-1 week for the Spartans. Griffin gave his all in a 5-4 loss to No. 17 Flagler. With his squad facing an early 3-0 deficit, Griffin scored Tampa's first goal and then assisted on its second. He rang up a hat trick with two more goals in the 68th and 77th minutes to knot the score at 4-4 before Flagler scored the game-winner a minute later.
Griffin found the net again in an SSC road win at Nova Southeastern. He put UT ahead 2-0 with a scoring tally in the 53rd minute of what proved to be a 2-1 Spartan victory.
