Tampa Plays Spring Season Friendly With Tampa Bay Rowdies
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's soccer team lost 2-0 to the Tampa Bay Rowdies at the Walter Fuller Complex on Wednesday. The match was hosted by the Azalea Youth Soccer League as part of the 2012 Rowdies Rush.
Forward Luke Mulholland scored his second goal in two matches as he chipped the ball over UT goalkeeper David Niepel in the 33rd minute after a feed from Takuya Yamada.
Trialist Ogi Perucica extended the lead to 2-0 in the 82nd minute after a perfect lead pass from midfielder Shane Hill. Perucica deposited his shot in the bottom right corner of the net for the goal.
The Rowdies finished the contest with 13 shots, six saves and 11 fouls as the Spartans tallied seven shots, six saves and 10 fouls.
"First, we want to thank the Tampa Bay Rowdies and we wish them great success this year," says head coach Adrian Bush. "For many of our players this was their first game against professionals. In saying that, I'm happy with our performance in the quality of play. The overall attitude has been incredible and it showed tonight in their performance."
