
Spartans Move Into National Rankings After Strong Start
KANSAS CITY, Kans. - After picking up a pair of wins to start the season, the University of Tampa men's soccer team went from unranked to No. 10 in the NSCAA Division II national poll.
The Spartans opened the 2012 campaign with a 2-1 win over Carson-Newman College in a neutral site contest from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Behind a pair of Dominic Cutrofello goals, Tampa capped its perfect opening week with a 2-1 overtime triumph over the University of Montevallo.
Tampa is one of four Sunshine State Conference schools in the top-25, joined by Lynn (2), Rollins (17) and Saint Leo (25). Clayton State, who UT will host on Saturday, also comes in at No. 18 in the latest poll.
This marks the fifth consecutive season that Tampa has been represented in the national rankings.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday, as they will play host to North Georgia at 7:30 p.m.
