Top-Ranked Lynn Too Much For Spartans
BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of Tampa (4-3-1, 1-2 SSC) men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to No. 1 Lynn University (9-0, 4-0 SSC) in a Sunshine State Conference meeting.
"It was a game two halves," says head coach Adrian Bush. "I felt that we played well in the first half and controlled the tempo of the match despite conceding an earlier goal."
Lynn took a 1-0 lead at the 8:22 mark, as the following goals all came in the second half. The Fighting Knights held a 17-6 advantage in shots and 9-3 in shots on goal.
"The second half was a major disappointment in terms of our effort and willingness to compete," says Bush. "Against the number-one team in the nation, it's not good enough. Lynn is a talented team and the competitive spirit of their players was light years ahead of our players in the second half. They completely deserved the game today and hopefully some good can come out of this result. You can't play halves of soccer games in this conference."
