Spartan Men Welcome Lions To Town On Senior Day
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 23 University of Tampa men's soccer team hosts Sunshine State Conference opponent Saint Leo at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday at Pepin Stadium. This game is the Spartan's senior day.
Midfielder Dominic Goncalves, midfielder Dominic Cutrofello, defender Matt Noble, defender Brian Fekete and goalkeeper Alberto Orozco are the seniors on this men's squad.
The No. 23 Spartans (9-4-1, 6-2 SSC) are 29-7 all-time against Saint Leo. They fell to the Lions 1-0 in a double overtime match in the last game of the 2011 season.
Sophomore Tyler Blackwood was named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Offensive Player of the Week after notching his second hat trick of the season in a 5-1 win against Florida Southern on Saturday. His three goals came in a span of less than 13 minutes.
Forward Tyler Blackwood leads the way for the Spartans with eleven goals, including four game winners on the season. Midfielder Dominic Cutrofello is second on the team with two goals.
The Lions (6-7, 3-4 SSC) are led by freshman forward Josh Davis who has added four goals on the season. Junior forward Aaron Gendreau is second on the team three goals, including two game winners.
The Pepin Stadium gates will open at 6:00 p.m. Tickets will be available for $5. Children 12-and-under will be admitted free. UT faculty, staff and students are admitted free when displaying a valid Spartan ID card.
