Pair of Spartans Earn First-Team All-Region Honors as Three Recognized
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its men's soccer all-region teams, honoring a pair of University of Tampa student-athletes on its first team and another on the second team.
Brian Fekete and Tyler Blackwood were both named to the first team and Dominic Cutrofello was a second team selection.
Fekete, a senior defender from Plant City, Fla., is now a three-time all-region performer. The first-team all-SSC selection also started all 17 games and registered one goal and four assists with leading the team with 1,495 minutes. His lone goal also went down as a game-winner against Florida Tech.
Blackwood, a sophomore forward from London, England, led the Spartans with 11 goals. The Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year also netted four game-winning goals and finished with a team-high 24 points while starting all 17 matches.
Cutrofello, a senior midfielder form Lutz, Fla., started all 17 games and finished with two goals and one assist. Among his goals was the game-winner against Montevallo in the second game of the season. He also logged 90-plus minutes in 16 of his 17 games played.
