Tampa Sails Past Tritons in Midweek Matchup

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's soccer team took on the Eckerd Tritons Wednesday night at Pepin Stadium and came out on top by a score of 3-1
The first half of the match was a hard fought defensive battle where both teams felt each other out trying to make the most of their opportunities. The Spartans outshot the Tritons 10-3, but couldn't quite find the back of the net, as both sides went into the half 0-0.
In the second half, both squads brought their scoring shoes as UT scored the first goal of the match as Monty Berrow tallied his third goal of the season at the 57-minute mark. Juan David Tejada brought the Tritons level at the 67-minute mark as he took a pass from Jordan Lee at the top of the box to tie the game at 1-1.
Just moments later, the Spartans would retake the lead as Keith Francisco registered his fifth goal of the season off a beautiful free kick just outside the 18-yard box. Putting the game out of reach for Eckerd was Dominick Mondesir as he recorded his first goal of the season in the 87th minute putting his side up 3-1.
