Spartans Fall Short at No. 4 Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Tampa Men's Soccer team suffered a close loss to No. 4 ranked Lynn University in a Sunshine State Conference matchup.

Records: Tampa Spartans (4-6-1, 2-4-1 SSC), #4 Lynn Fighting Knights (10-0-1, 6-0-1 SSC)

All-time Series: Tampa trails in all-time series with a record of 14-25-4. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

1st Half | (12') Looking to open up the scoring early, forward Omar Thali gave the Spartans an early 1-0 past Fighting Knights goalkeeper Konstantin Fuhry. (49') However, right before halftime, the Fighting Knights tied the game as Levin Sandmann netted his 3^rd goal of the season, on the assist by Lukas Ostermann.  || Tied, 1-1

2nd Half | (62') Looking to keep their offensive momentum going, the Fighting Knights scored another goal from the foot of Levin Sandmann giving him his first multi-goal game of the year, and 4^th goal of the season. (71') Tampa would not go down easily as forward Omar Thali netted his second goal of the game to tie the game. (74') Minutes later, the Fighting Knights scored the decisive goal, this time by forward Lukas Ostermann. || Lynn 3-2

Inside the Stats: 

• Jake Richards finished the game with 9 saves; which puts him at 42 on the season
• Omar Thali now has 4 goals this season.
• Tampa only posted 9 shots, 4 of those shots on goal; LU recorded 25 shots,12 of those on goal.  

UP NEXT: The Spartans will look to get back on the winning track this upcoming Wednesday October 23^rd as they head to Saint Leo to take on the Lions in a late-season conference matchup. Kick-off will be at 7 PM.
