Incoming Standout Marcello Valbuena Named Gatorade Player of the Year
TAMPA, Fla. - Gatorade has announced its Boys High School State Players of the Year for soccer, naming University of Tampa signee Marcello Valbuena as Florida's top player.
A graduate of Tampa Catholic High School, Valbuena was also recognized as the state's Mr. Soccer after leading the Crusaders to a Class 3A state championship in 2021.
He concluded his senior season with 36 goals and five assists, including a pair of goals in the state championship game as he led TC to its first state title in program history.
Valbuena will enroll at the University of Tampa in the fall of 2021, and will compete for the Spartans in the upcoming season.
