TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa claimed the 42nd annual Rowdies Cup with a late goal to defeat the University of South Florida.

All-time series: USF leads the series 22-10-3. The Bulls had previously won four straight over the Spartans, as the last UT win came in 2014 with a 1-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st: Both teams displayed a solid first half with several chances, Tampa with four shots and USF with eight. With just under 12 minutes left in the first half, Junior forward Juancho Fernandez turned things up a notch with a firm volley that went just above the crossbar. The best chance from the Spartans in the first half came off the head of a sophomore defender, Cody Wells, but was blocked by a Bulls defender.
2nd: In the second half, both Spartans and Bulls were looking to get on the board with quality chances on goal. Graduate Student goalkeeper Adam Forster had a strong debut for the Spartans recording five saves in the half, including a dangerous breakaway from the Bulls. In the 78th minute, Junior Forward Amgad Salah hit a driven ball into the bottom right corner of the net, just out of reach of the Bulls Keeper, giving the Spartans the lead.
