
Nico Gamio, Tim Krafft Recognized as Academic All-District Performers
GREENWOOD, Ind. - University of Tampa men's soccer players Nico Gamio and Tim Krafft were recognized for their academic success as part of the 2022 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Teams.
Gamio, a graduate student from Melo, Uruguay, is working towards a Master's in international business and management. Previously named the University of Tampa Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Gamio carries a long list of academic achievements. He has also excelled on the field, starting 15 games in 22 and seeing action in 17. The defender also registered a goal and an assist this season.
Krafft, a senior international business and finance major from Bochum, Germany, played in nine games for the Spartans throughout the 2022 season. The midfielder also earned four starts and finished the year with seven shots.
The award is selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All- America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
