Spartans Tie Bearcats at Home Behind Alemanji's Two Goal Effort

TAMPA, FLA. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team ties with non-conference opponent at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

FIRST HALF: The game began with both teams trading possession back and forth. On a hot afternoon, each team was taking their time setting up scoring chances. In the 33^rd minute of the matchup, the Spartans recorded a couple shots on goal to bring up the intensity. Tampa set up a great chance to end the half, but the teams would head into halftime all knotted up at zero.

Score: 0-0 Tie

SECOND HALF: The second half opened up with Ricardo Sepulveda recording a shot early. In the 54^th minute, Marcello Valbuena set up Anu Alemanji in front of the net to open the scoring. Four minutes later, Lander tied the matchup with an own goal after a deflection off the cross. Sepulveda had a great header in the 65^th minute that was saved by the Bearcats goalkeeper. In the 80^th minute, Alemanji found the back of the net once again to put the Spartans back in the lead. The Bearcats evened the score in the 83rd minute to set up the final score of 2-2.

Final: 2-2 Tie

• Agustin Lombardo started in goal for the Spartans, recording two saves.
