Spartans Fall Late in SSC Battle on the Road
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team falls late to conference foe in hard fought battle.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF: The match began with each team eager to open the scoring in this conference showdown. In the early minutes, the Spartans began applying pressure on the Buccaneers behind back-to-back shots by junior Viggo Svedin. Just under seven minutes in, Barry opened the scoring. Tampa would continue to get shots off and create scoring chances, but the Barry goal would prove to be the lone one of the half.
Score: 1-0 Barry
SECOND HALF: The second half opened with the Spartans ready to put one in the back of the net. Tampa pressured early once again, dominating both possession and shots. Senior Jack Hartford headed a ball in the box that went just inches over the net, sparking the Spartans' sideline. With 32 minutes left in the match, Rodrigo Lopes netted the equalizing goal off a blocked shot by teammate Theo Maye. The Spartans offense continued to roll, creating scoring chances and doubling the Buccaneers total shots 14-7. Lopes went on to assist Cherif Tammar's first goal of the season to put Tampa in the lead by one in the 87th minute. With one minute left, Barry tied the game off a penalty kick. Soon after, the Buccaneers netted one more to put the game away with 55 seconds left.
