Tampa Set To Host Florida Southern In Swimming Opener

TAMPA, Fla. - In its season-opener and first-ever Sunshine State Conference meet, The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams will welcome Florida Southern College to begin the 2010-11 season on Saturday.

The meet is slated for 10:30 a.m. at the UT Swimming Complex, which is located on campus. In the first year of SSC swimming, the two teams have previously met as members of the Bluegrass Mountain Conference. The Spartans took both meets in last season's opener in Lakeland.

The Spartan women are coming off its second consecutive Bluegrass Mountain championship as the men placed second. Both teams advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships, with the men placing 11th and women 12th.
