UT Men And Women Capture Top Prize At NSU Invite
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming team both won the NSU Shark Invitational, a four day competition hosted by Nova Southeastern University.
In women's action, Tampa had 1,048 points to defeat Florida Southern (881), Nova Southeastern (539), Rollins (491.5), Catawba (336.5) and Lenoir-Rhyne (254). The UT men accumulated 921.5 points to top Florida Southern (830), Nova Southeastern (807), Rollins (541), Catawba (296.5) and Lenoir-Rhyne (136).
The final day of competition included 11 events, six of which were championed by The University of Tampa.
The UT women were beneficiaries of three first-place showings. Heather Glenday (1,650 Free, 17:18.47), Lisa Bero (200 Breast, 2:19.59) and Catherine Patrell (200 Fly 2:07.79) each won their respective races.
In men's action, Chris O'Linger (1,650 Free, 15:54.68) and David Humphrey (100 Free 45.98) won their individual races. UT also had a first-place finish from its 400 Free Relay team of Humphrey, Jeff Fiore, Felipe Manzo and Brad Hines (3:05.10).
Tampa returns home for its next meet, which is the UT Relays on Saturday, Jan, 8 at 11 a.m. The meet will take place at the UT Swimming Complex.
